Agre  Vahnih  Prsthe  Bhanuh

Ratrau  Cubukasamarpitajanuh

karatalabhiksarutalavasah

Tadapi  Na  Muncatyasapasah.K

Agre = in front,

Vahnih = the fire,

Prasthe = at the back,

Bhanuh = the sun,

Ratrau = at night,

Cubuka  samarpit Javauh =with[his] knees held to [his] chin [he sits],

Karatal  bhiks = alms in [his own] scooped palm [he receives],

Tarutalavasah = under the shelter of the tree[he lives],

Tadapi = and yet,

Na - never,

Muncat = spares[leaves],

Asapasah = noose of desires.

In front of the fire, at the back of the sun, late at night he sits with his knees held to his chin; he receives alms in his own scooped palm and lives under the shelter of some tree, and yet the noose of desires spares him not!
